Ring with a miniature of Maria Feodorovna (1759-1828), Empress of Russia

c. 1800

RCIN 9017

The miniature set into this ring with a diamond bezel is thought to represent Empress Maria Feodoovna, consort of Emperor Paul I. She wears a large diamond tiara, possibly representing the tiara worn by Russian grand duchesses for their wedding, which was set with the large central 13-carat stone known as the Paul I pink diamond.

First recorded in the reign of HM The Queen.
