In the mid-eighteenth century pieces made by the Russian Imperial Porcelain Factory showed the heavy influence of other European makers. This cup and saucer with gilt decoration in the Neo-classical style together with the shapes of the pieces is inspired by French porcelain, particularly Sèvres.
