Pair of candelabra

Russian malachite was exported to Italy and France for mounting into furniture, clocks and decorative objects, particularly in the early nineteenth century. These candelabra were made in the Parisian workshop of Pierre-Philippe Thomire, regarded as the most accomplished bronzemounter and gilder of the period.

Purchased for George IV by François Benoit between 1827 and 1833.
