Bell

1849

RCIN 46101

The Tsar Bell was the largest ever cast in bronze in Russia in 1733 for the Tower of the Kremlin. When the bell was raised out of its casting pit it fell back and a large piece broke off. The broken section is indicated on this model which was made by Tegelsten, who worked extensively for the firm of Nicholls & Plincke in St Petersburg.

Probably acquired by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra
