Wedding portrait of HRH Princess Elizabeth and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

20 November 1947

Gelatin silver print | 20.6 x 15.2 cm (image) | RCIN 2805960

Photographs of the bride and groom alone, and family groups, were taken in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace after the wedding ceremony. Princess Elizabeth’s fifteen-foot, hand-embroidered train was woven in Essex. Her bouquet consisted of white orchids and a sprig of myrtle from the bush at Osborne House, included in the bouquets of royal brides since the 1850s.
