Lady Elizabeth’s wedding dress was described in The Times as, ‘the simplest ever made for a royal wedding’. It had the same fashionable drop waist seen in her 1922 bridesmaid’s dress, with two trains, one secured from the hips and the other from the shoulders. The material was ivory chiffon moiré, which had been specially dyed to match the colour of the antique lace veil, lent by Queen Mary.
