Honiton lace | 35.5 x 36.5 cm (whole object) | RCIN 120026

The label in Queen Mary’s hand identifies this particular handkerchief as the one that she, ‘Victoria Mary, Duchess of York’, used on her wedding day. It is made of fine Honiton lace and embroidered with her initials, VM. In the photograph with the bridesmaids (below) the new Duchess of York is holding a handkerchief together with a pair of gloves.
