Albert Edward, Prince of Wales – the son and heir of Queen Victoria – was betrothed to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in the gardens of the Royal Palace at Laeken, Brussels, on 9 September 1862. This calendar marks the date of the engagement and includes a photograph of the couple taken on the day. The calendar was made by the Prince’s younger sister, Princess Louise.
