Prince Philip

1933

RCIN 250114

In 1930, at the age of eight, Prince Philip came to Britain to attend Cheam School in Surrey. He lived partly with his maternal grandmother (Princess Louis of Battenberg; from 1917 Marchioness of Milford Haven) in Kensington Palace, and partly with his uncle, the 2nd Marquess of Milford Haven, at Lynden Manor near Maidenhead. This photograph was taken in 1933, shortly before Prince Philip left Cheam.
