This portrait shows Prince Philip standing in the shell of St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, after the fire in 1992, holding a roll of floorplans. It represents the active role His Royal Highness undertook in the restoration of the State Apartments, including acting as Chairman of the Restoration Committee. This portrait was completed while the restoration (completed in 1997) was still underway.
