RCIN 94816

The gold medal was won by the Duke and his team at the World Championships held at Windsor in 1980. 42 teams from 11 countries competed in the dressage, marathon and cones phases. The World Championships are organised by the FEI or Federation Equestre Internationale, which was formed in 1921 to agree international rules for Olympic equestrian competitions. The Duke of Edinburgh served as President of the FEI from 1964 to 1986 and was actively involved in drafting the International Rules for Driving Events.
