HRH PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH (1921-2021)

A Windsor correspondence

1984

RCIN 1006554

In 1966 Prince Philip and Robin Woods (1914–97), Dean of Windsor, founded St George’s House, a centre for theological and business ethics study attached to St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Prince Philip remained on the Council of St George’s House until his death.

This book is the correspondence between Prince Philip and the Right Reverend Michael Mann (Dean of Windsor 1976–89) regarding Professor Sir Fred Hoyle’s 1982 lecture ‘Evolution from Space’. Hoyle discussed the possibility of life on earth having arrived from beyond this planet, directed by a greater intelligence. Prince Philip saw a compatibility between the scientific theory of evolution and the Christian story of Creation.
