Recent plant introductions dominate this folio from the florilegium. Like the tulip, the Crown Imperial had been introduced to Europe from Constantinople via Vienna, where it grew in the Imperial gardens. Narcissus radiiflorus derived from the western Balkans. Only the Poet’s Narcissus had been known in English gardens for over a hundred years.
