A watercolour of the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, with a flap showing the building before and after Humphrey Repton's proposed alterations. With flap closed, the existing classical facade can be seen; with flap open, a Mughal palace design with minarets, dome and oriental flower garden. Contained in a red bound volume or 'Red Book' with other proposed alterations presented to George IV when Prince of Wales in 1806. Repton's 'Red Books' were issued to his clients and patrons as a way of showing the possibilities inherent in their estates. The plans never went ahead, but the volume was published in 1808 (see RCIN 1150259). 

This drawing is part of Repton's Red Book for Brighton Pavilion (970493) submitted to George, Prince of Wales (later George IV) in 1806.
