The scheme for the gardens at the Brighton Pavilion displayed in the adjacent red book by Humphry Repton was never fulfilled and the only legacy of Repton’s elaborate garden plans was the publication of his Designs for the Pavilion at Brighton through J.C. Stadler in 1808. When the prince eventually took forward a plan for the garden in 1814, it was the less exotic, although still picturesque, garden style of his architect, John Nash, which was implemented.
