PAUL SANDBY (1731-1809)

Deputy Ranger's Lodge, Windsor Great Park

signed and dated 1798

RCIN 453594

This watercolour shows the view looking towards the Deputy Ranger’s Lodge from the garden in Windsor Great Park. Paul Sandby always acknowledges the role of the gardener in his garden views even when the gardener himself is absent. In this instance, the gardener is symbolised by the roller propped against the tree.
