The 1928 and 1933 sittings

The four photographs shown here are from two sittings: two of Princess Elizabeth were taken in July 1928, and two of Princess Margaret were taken five years later, in July 1933. The 1928 sitting had resulted in a number of successful portraits. Indeed, it is said that the Princess and her parents were so delighted with the pictures that they later asked Adams if he would photograph Princess Margaret in a similar attitude and dress when she reached the same age. This he duly did in 1933, as shown here.
