LEONARDO DA VINCI (VINCI 1452-AMBOISE 1519)

The arm of St Peter

c.1495

RCIN 912546

Leonardo studies the right arm of St Peter, twisted behind his back as he leans over Judas’s shoulder. The sense of cloth moving over living flesh heralds Leonardo’s growing understanding of chalk as a drawing medium.
