Needlework casket

Caskets like this were used for a variety of purposes but frequently contained receptacles for writing equipment, jewellery, bottles for perfumes and sections for combs and needlework tools. This example is covered in silk laid work and includes a scene on the front showing a man and woman dressed in fashionable clothing of the 1660s – 70s.
