The Investiture of HRH The Prince of Wales, 1 July 1969: the crowning

On 1 July 1969, Prince Charles was invested as Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester by The Queen. During the ceremony, in Caernarfon Castle in North Wales, the Prince was invested with the insignia of The Prince of Wales, including a gold coronet made for the occasion. The Queen can be seen here placing the coronet on the Prince’s head during the ceremony.
