THOMAS ROWLANDSON (1757-1827)

High Spirits

c. 1800

RCIN 913709

Rowlandson produced watercolours as finished works for sale to collectors as well as preparatory studies for his prints. This wonderful example of Rowlandson’s exuberant drawing style is one of a group of watercolours of women drinking that Rowlandson probably made around 1800. It has been placed into a contemporary mount for pasting into an album. Cat. 50
