A handsome plumber has come to repair an old tap, dating from the reign of George II. While her elderly husband looks on grumpily, a young woman flirts with the plumber, who carries a suggestively phallic tap. Rowlandson’s title leaves the viewer in no doubt about the outcome. Cat. 83
