CORNELIS VERMEULEN (1644-1708/9)

CATHERINE PARRE.

c.1697-1713

RCIN 600904

When Katherine Parr (1512–48) became Henry’s sixth wife in July 1543, she had already been twice widowed. Katherine was kind and clever, proving an ideal companion for the ageing Henry and reconciling him with his two daughters. When Henry died in 1547, Katherine was free to marry Thomas Seymour, brother of Queen Jane. She died after giving birth to Seymour’s daughter just over a year later.
