A gouache of several birds viewed in profile, and isolated from one another. The drawing is based on a sketchbook that Ocean made in Kenya, near Ngong racecourse outside Nairobi, where he stays with his sister, an Assumption nun in a small community. The birds, clockwise from top left, are: African citril; mousebird; red-billed firefinch; white-browed sparrow weaver; black-throated wattle eye and house sparrow. Initials and date, lower right.
