Dominique Daguerre candelabra and pedestals

A key influence on the earliest interior schemes at Carlton House was the marchand-mercier (dealer-decorator) Dominique Daguerre. Daguerre acted as a designer but was also able to acquire the older works of French furniture so much admired by George. These candelabra and their associated pedestals, which may follow one of Daguerre’s designs, originally formed a set of eight, supplied for the Great Drawing Room (later Throne Room).

Acquired c. 1794
