ROGER FENTON (1819-69)

The North Side, Windsor Castle

1860

RCIN 2100062

This view, of the north front of the castle from the Slopes, was taken in an area of the grounds not normally accessible by the public. When the Court was not in residence, however, it was possible to apply to the Lord Chamberlain to gain access to these areas. Fenton would have required such permission to take a number of the views in this series.
