Charles Clinton Parry (1840-83) was the son and heir of Thomas Gambier Parry, a prominent patron of the arts. His younger brother was the composer Hubert Parry, best known for the hymn Jerusalem. From an early age Clinton displayed signs of instability. He died, separated from his family, in Australia.
