Coat, dress and hat

1994

RCIN 250391

The Channel Tunnel was officially opened by The Queen and President Mitterand of France in May 1994, thereby joining the United Kingdom to continental Europe for the first time in history. The vivid pink hue of this coat and dress ensemble – the dress with an abstract paisley print and the matching pill box hat with folded bow detail at the back – is an example of block-colour dressing enabling Her Majesty to be easily visible on such an auspicious and historic occasion.
