The Queen’s Grenadier No. 1 Dress Tunic and Hat

Princess Elizabeth became a Colonel of the Grenadier Guards in 1947, and wore this uniform to ride at Trooping the Colour, between 1947 and 1950. The blue wool tailored jacket is designed to allow for riding sidesaddle. The hat, or forage cap, was designed by the couture milliner Aage Thaarup, who exaggerated the front of the crown.
