Akbar Shah II and his sons

c.1790-1810

RCIN 406533

The Mughal emperor Akbar Shah II (r. 1806–37) sent this European-style oil painting with a letter to George IV in 1830. George IV had died by the time it reached England and Viscount Combermere (Commander-in-Chief of the British Army in India) presented it to the new king, William IV, instead.
