FABRIQUE ROYALE [BERLIN]

Table snuff box

c.1770-75

RCIN 9044

The maker of this box has used almost 3,000 diamonds, some backed with delicately coloured silver foils in shade of yellow and pink together with some coloured diamonds to create images of flowers, insects, gardening tools and musical instruments. It was originally made for Frederick II of Prussia (1712-86).  Queen Mary bought it for the Royal Collection in 1932.
