This photograph is from a set of 150 views taken by Robertson in the Crimea. Some of his Crimean photographs were exhibited at the Manchester Art Treasures Exhibition in 1857. Earlier, on 28 February 1856, the Prince of Wales refers in his diary to having seen 'Robertson's Photographs of the Crimea and Constantinople at Mr Kilburn's.'
