RCIN 2906220

This group photograph was taken before lunch on the seventeenth wedding anniversary of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The Queen described the day in her journal: 'We went into our sitting room, where the 7 children were assembled, all in different costumes. Vicky, in the mother's dress from Little Red Riding Hood, Bertie and Alice in the costumes of James V and his Queen, from last year's Tableau, all the others in costumes worn before. Vicky gave me a magnificent bouquet with white flowers, which the good Child had taken such trouble to get for me, and a lovely drawing ... She and Alice also gave their Papa drawings and the latter gave me a bouquet, - Louise a drawing, - her first production. Arthur had specially written out the dates of the Kings.'
