Gilt metal bracelet

Gilt metal bracelet composed of twelve oval lockets containing photographs of the family of King Christian IX and Queen Louise of Denmark, with its original case. The bracelet belonged to Queen Mary's grandmother, Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge, who inherited it from her sister, Princess Louise of Hesse-Cassels. The Duchess and her sister were aunts of Queen Louise of Denmark, the mother of Alexandra, Princess of Wales. Those depicted in the photographs are (left to right): Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark, Alexandra, Princess of Wales, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, Queen Olga of the Hellenes, King George I of the Hellenes, Tsarevna Marie Feodorovna of Russia, Tsarevitch Alexander of Russia, Princess Thyra of Denmark, Prince Valdemar of Denmark. On the backs of the nine linked lockets are the letters of the word SOUVENIR and the date 1868. The three pendant lockets contain photographs of (left to right): Prince Albert Victor, Prince George and Princess Louise of Wales. In the back of the central locket is a photograph of Prince Christian of Denmark, eldest son of Crown Prince Frederick.
