Banquet in the Railway Station, Wazirabad, Punjab State

1875-76

RCIN 2701786

By his own wish, the Prince of Wales made a tour of India from 8 November 1875 until 13 March 1876. During his stay he received and visited many Indian princes and officials, held receptions and levées and went on hunting and sightseeing expeditions. As a result of the visit, six photographic albums were compiled of portraits, groups and views. Some of the photographs were commercial prints already available; others were specially taken to commemorate the tour. Wazirabad is situated within the borders of modern-day Pakistan, on the banks of the Chenab River.
