RCIN 919044

Before the outbreak of the English Civil War, Thomas Howard, 14th Earl of Arundel (1585–1646), had assembled the finest collection of drawings in Europe, including an album containing 600 sheets by Leonardo da Vinci. This study of the musculature of the back and arm was based on human dissections carried out by Leonardo in the hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in Florence.
