The Mary Tudor Tower

c.1765

RCIN 914552

The view is taken from the corner of St George’s Chapel, and shows the tower that was given to the Military Knights of Windsor in the reign of Mary I (1553-8). In the eighteenth century it was home to the Governor of the Military Knights. The two street traders, one carrying a basket of pies, offer a wry contrast.
