JOSEPH POTE (1704-87)

Les Delices de Windsore; or, A Description of Windsor Castle and the country adjacent

1763

RCIN 1046343

Joseph Pote, a local bookseller, first published his tourist guide to Windsor Castle in 1755. It cost two shillings, and was small enough to be easily carried around. The guide contained a descriptive tour of the Castle, and was reprinted in many later editions. This edition included a fold-out print of the north front, the same aspect drawn by Sandby above.
