PAUL SANDBY (1731-1809)

Castle Hill with the Henry III Tower and the Mary Tudor Tower seen from the south

c. 1765

RCIN 914541

Sandby made many drawings of Castle Hill, then the main route along the south side of the Castle between Windsor and the village of Datchet. This busy street scene outside the Castle includes a water-carrier returning from a delivery, a pair of street traders carrying their wares, and a boy playing with a hoop.
