ANDREA PALLADIO (1508-80)

I qvattro libri dell'architettvra

1768

RCIN 1079104

Smith was a passionate advocate for the revival of interest in the work of the sixteenth-century Venetian architect Andrea Palladio. In 1768 the Pasquali press issued this new edition of Palladio’s treatise, the Four Books of Architecture, first published in 1570. The Pasquali edition was conceived almost as a facsimile, and united the etched plates with the text in the manner of the woodcuts and text in the original publication.
