The Regatta was held annually on 2 February, and a race of single-oared light gondolas is underway. Spectators cheer them on, many in elaborately decorated bissone, the eight-oared barges belonging to prominent Venetian families. On the left is the macchina della regatta, a temporary floating pavilion, which marks the finishing line.
