To the right is the imposing Renaissance façade of Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi, and in the distance the tower of San Geremia, seen in the previous painting. At the left are Ca’ Tron and Palazzo Belloni-Battagia, with obelisks on their roofs. Beyond are the state granaries, followed by the Fondaco dei Turchi, the offices of the Turkish traders and then one of the finest Byzantine buildings in Venice. Canaletto straightened the left bank, which in reality curves to the left to hide the granaries and Fondaco.
