FRANCIS BEDFORD (1815-94)

Mr F. Bedford's photographic pictures taken during the tour in the East in which by command he accompanied His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales

1862

RCIN 1134039

After the royal party returned from the Middle East, Bedford began the task of printing up his negatives. 172 of the resulting photographs were included in an exhibition at the German Gallery in London. It was described as ‘perhaps the most important photographic exhibition that has hitherto been placed before the public’. There was an accompanying catalogue, and at the back was an order form, with prices, to allow purchases of the photographs to be made. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
