FRANCIS BEDFORD (1815-94)

[Group of camp attendants, Beirut, Lebanon]

6 May 1862

RCIN 2700980

Bedford did not take many photographs of the local inhabitants encountered on the Prince’s tour. The few group portraits that he made are usually of people who had provided some service to the royal party, whether as an armed guard or as servants. Here Bedford has photographed the men who worked at the Prince’s encampment in Beirut. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
