Bethlehem, from the roof of the Convent

The royal party rode from Jerusalem to Bethlehem in a few hours. Upon arrival, they visited the Church of the Nativity before climbing onto the roof of the convent attached to the church in order to obtain a view of the town. Bedford also climbed onto the roof with his camera equipment and glass negatives to take this photograph. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
