In his journal for 25 May 1862 the Prince of Wales wrote, ‘At 10 o’clock Ali Pasha came to the embassy and presented me with the Turkish Decoration of the service in the name of the Sultan, which he has conferred upon me.’ Presented to the Prince of Wales by Sultan Abdülaziz, 1862
