Hendrick van Steenwyck the Younger

Steenwyck worked in Antwerp and The Hague, but his most successful years were spent at the English court. Possibly conceived as a pair, Figures on a Terrace is bright and frivolous, portraying fashionably dressed figures listening to music and promenading. The darker, candle-lit interior of Liberation of St Peter, depicts St Peter as an old man in prison stumbling towards freedom, led by an angel.
