The Queen during the State Visit to the Federal Republic of Germany

May 1965

RCIN 2999852

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, visited Germany from 18 to 28 May 1965. She was the first British sovereign to visit Germany since King George V had attended the wedding of Princess Victoria of Prussia in 1913. The 1965 visit was extremely successful, President Lubke and the German people extending a warm welcome as The Queen and The Duke toured the country, for much of the time by special train.
