DOROTHY WILDING (1893-1976)

Her Majesty the Queen, 1952

signed and dated

RCIN 2999871

This is one of the best known photographic portraits of The Queen, taken at a sitting in the year of her accession to the throne in 1952.  It is an image which, despite her youth, captures an air of regal splendour and authority.  The print shown here is housed in a booklet containing ten other formal photographs of The Queen, all taken by Dorothy Wilding at the start of the new reign.
