PAUL STORR (1771-1844)

Wine label (part of The Grand Service)

hallmark 1809-22

RCIN 51095

A set of silver-gilt wine labels, of oval shape, each pierced and chased with the head of Jupiter Ammon above a shaped rectangular plate, cast with the name of the wine, held by two recumbent putti, their legs entwined, lying on fruiting vines.

It is likely that because of their large size, these labels were used for Jeroboam or Rehoboam bottles or decanters.
